Scholarship Program
Phillip Freeman, one of the founding members of Old South in 1991, served as President and remained President until his passing on October 10, 1999. He was a driving force behind Old South and in honor of his dedication and contribution to the Club, the Phillip Freeman Scholarship was created. Annually, Old South awards a $1500.00 scholarship to a deserving college student through the HRC Foundation. The guidelines for a scholarship are as follows: applicant must be a citizen of the United States or Canada, applicant must be an HRC member, or legal dependent of an HRC member on a family membership, and that membership must have been in place for a minimum of one year (12 months) at the time of application, applicant must be a high school senior, or graduate, with a minimum of a 3.0 Grade Point Average on a four (4) point system, or the equivalent on a five (5) or six (6) point system, applicant must be ranked in the upper one-third (1/3) of his/her class. The scholarship is awarded at the HRC National Meeting in June of every year. If you have an interest in applying for the scholarship, applications are published in the December/January issues of the Hunting Retriever Club magazine.
